Hi all,

Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. I just drove down with a buddy from Alaska to Northern Minnesota to visit family. It was a beautiful drive and I saw a lot of wonderful scenery and even a little bit of wildlife. We drove 3300 miles in 8 days. We didn’t push it too hard and camped out a lot. On the downside, for us technology junkies, I didn’t have any cell phone reception for about 4 days and am just now getting back on the computer. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Camping on Beautiful Eddontenajon Lake, B.C.

We spent one night camping on Eddontenajon Lake in the heart of British Columbia. This is the view from our campsite at Red Goat Lodge. My buddy, Warren, had stayed here on a previous trip and was awed by the beauty. The water got a little rough the next morning, else we would have stayed longer and did some canoeing. There’s always next time. This lake and lodge is located on the Cassiar Highway in the middle of B.C.

Traveling Down the Cassiar Highway

Traveling Down the Cassiar Highway

This is Cassiar Highway by Eddontenajon Lake as we were leaving Red Goat Lodge the next morning. The road wasn’t too bad in this area. Most of highway is very narrow with limited guard rails. Notice the beautiful fall colors that come early in this part of the world.

Not all of the Cassiar Highway is Paved Yet

Not all of the Cassiar Highway is Paved Yet

Not all of the Cassiar Highway is paved yet. Out of its 450 mile length, 2 20-mile sections are still gravel like this section. This section was just North of Dease Lake. The other section is in the Stikine River area. This gravel section was actually smoother than a couple of paved sections further North.

Note: I’m still figuring out how to add my pictures to these posts. I think these turned out well. I may try larger images in a later post to see how they look. Clicking on these pics will also bring up a larger image. Speaking of pictures, you may have noticed the pictures in the upper right corner. Most of those are pictures I have taken myself. If you refresh the page you will get a different picture. Pretty cool.

Over the next few days, I’ll get more good stuff up on traveling from Alaska. If you ever do travel to or from Alaska, A very helpful book is the Milepost. This will list in detail attractions, lodging, rest areas, routes and more while traveling. I found the Milepost to be indispensible.
